March 19, 2015.
The class that day was full of teaching-learning activities. We became teachers, learners, and gave feedbacks, as well. We were all tasked to teach a certain skill to our classmates and, in return, our classmates would also teach us a new skill.
Honestly, I felt really thankful for that activity because if it weren't for that, I wouldn't be able to learn to write in Hangul. Good thing my classmate was a bit patient with me because it was indeed hard for me because I just watch Korean series but I really am not a huge fan (no offense). Before the activity, I always thought of the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters were all the same or they look the same. It was very fantastic to have learned a thing like that in just about 10 minutes. I know it's just the basic characters but I was able to write my name and my classmates' names in Hangul, too. How cool is that?
Again, I just want to commend my teacher for that activity because she really thought of ways to make it easier for a beginner like me. She helped me memorize the characters by associating it to things like hat and to a rolling ball. Also, she made me experience it first to a larger board then there. Everything became smooth especially for me who finds it easier to learn about something and tend to remember something when I write it.
On the other hand, I taught one of my classmates how to tie a neck tie. I did not have a spare neck tie so I just first showed her how and then let her try it with my assistance. Then I let her do it all by herself. I was also very lucky for my learner was such a fast learner. She actually learned it way faster than I did.
But one thing that I learned from the activity that I can relate to my practice as a PT in the future is that teaching something to someone or a patient entails a lot of hard work. Teaching doesn't solely end on preparing all the things that you need to teach someone. Teaching is beyond that. Teaching is also about making it a point that, at the end of the day, you have changed someone else's life by making him or her learn something new. And that is a type of PT that I want to be like in the near future.
