Instilling a love of learning

A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning. – Brad Henry

The movie, “Freedom writers” would always be shown in HBO and I would always flick the channel. I don’t know why I never gave it a second glance; maybe I thought it was boring but then when we had it for movie day, I could say that it is one of the most life-changing movies. Real talk.

It really made me realize how tough it is to be an educator. Seeing how Ms. G pushed and sacrificed a lot not only for herself but also for her students got me thinking about my future clients. She used different learning strategies in order to cause and shape change amongst her students who were apathetic then.  Ms. G was able to reach and connect to her students, which I think is a very hard endeavor.

As a future PT, this made me realize that the clients are not robots and you do not expect them to improve immediately – we all know it takes time to change. Being in this profession requires a lot of commitment, dedication, patience and a lot of sweat, which makes me even more excited to fulfill this mission. It really is true that when you put your heart and whole effort into something, everything turns out to be beautiful.

In reality, we cannot choose our clients and there will always be some who are difficult to handle but no matter how hard it is going to be, never ever give up. It is a struggle, it will throw curveballs at you, it will humble you, and it will attempt to break you down but is our duty to push our clients to their limits and always be there to back them up.
