PT: Pt. Teacher

"A teacher affects eternity. He can never tell where his influence stops." - Henry Adams

Last March 20, 2015, we watched the film entitled "Freedom Writers." The activity was ordinary but watching the film somehow changed some of my perspectives. One of the amazing things also was that, it was based on a true story. It means that in some way, it could also happen anyone of us.

Through the film, I realized that being a teacher is really a noble profession. A true teacher helps you attain self-discovery. S/he sparks the innate learner in you especially at times when you seem to forget it. S/he believes in your potential and guides you to achieve the fullness of those potentials. S/he lets you grow even if s/he is still also growing him/herself in the process.

In teaching as well as in life, we should never easily give up on someone because we would never know what they can become if we do not walk with them until the end. I realized that sometimes, if you have tons of walls to bring down, it requires you twice the tons of courage and patience to get through those walls. Those walls were built for some reason and you have to know where the person is coming from and why s/he is inside those walls.

As a future PT/teacher, I should know when a patient/client has yet to reach his/her full capacity and strive to help him/her achieve it. No matter how long my patience already is, I should learn to stretch it more as being a PT itself is being "patient."
