Again and again, I read the module and asked questions. I
never thought the activity would be that difficult. The announcement, from the
day before, mentioned bringing pens, paper and lots of creativity. I thought I
had all three, but I was wrong.
Last Monday, we had to come up with an
instructional design. This design would be used when we teach the clients
assigned to us. Yes, there was a module to guide us. There were even teachers
to assist us. However, reading the module was different from the actual experience
of creating the design. It was draining. I was confused. I was pressured. To be
honest, I did not like it one bit. My only realization was that my teachers
were doing this, every lecture, every lab, every day. I admired them. I felt guilt. If they could
do it, then maybe, even just a little bit, I could do it too. So I gathered my thoughts and stopped
whining. I would not do this for myself. I would do this for my client’s sake. I
asked Ma’am about my client. I got to know more about his interests and
capabilities. Based from those, I created objectives and appropriate
strategies. Objectives was the most challenging part because one wrong move
could affect the rest. Everything depended on it. So I prioritized my tasks and
got organized. Both were key points in creating an instructional design. Thus,
plan, plan and plan. Planning takes time and effort but it just makes sense,
because you want nothing except the best, for your learners. This makes it, a
crucial step in teaching.
