No I.D. No Teach

Making the instructional design was not an easy task. It requires a lot of time to think and re-think and definitely demands a great amount of effort. From these pre-requisites, the instructional design determines the kind of teaching session that you will facilitate. Therefore, it is important to come up with a good one.

The session was already challenging from the beginning when we were asked to make three possible objectives for our teaching session. At first, I thought it was the easiest part but I was mistaken. The objectives basically reflect the whole instructional design. Thus, formulating the objectives should be reflected from your perception of how you want the teaching session to occur. The objectives also determine the end-goal/s of the learning session that's why it is very critical to be very concrete and specific in this part.

Next, the content and the teaching strategies were decided. This time, we determined what techniques were appropriate for the learners. It is important that during this time, we should come-up with a variety of teaching strategies that is deemed suitable and most appropriate for the learners. With a variety of strategies on hand, it will be easier for the teacher to adapt in a situation different from what he/she expected. In addition, we should always consider that these strategies must be able to motivate the learners to engage during the session.

Lastly, we determine the resources and the type of evaluation that we will conduct. The resources such as visual aids and hand-outs help in conducting the teaching session easier thus maximizing the use of it is really recommended.

Although making an instructional design was difficult, it is considered a stepping stone to a successful and effective teaching session.
