Theory Turns into Reality

After all the hardships in studying how to teach and how to make an instructional design, finally we were able to apply the things we learned from paper into a real teaching session. The whole session went well and smoothly but since it was our first time, it was not perfect and we admit that.

Upon reflecting about the teaching session, I realized that we did well when it comes to relating with our clients because we were able to have a personal connection with them at the start of the session. In addition to these, we also showed them the benefits of the exercise in their busy and stressful lives. Through these we made it more meaningful for them which in turn made it easier for us to instill knowledge and learning to them.

No teaching session is perfect and for a first timer, we still have a long way to go. One of the things we must improve is picking up cues from the participants about the things they value in life so that we can modify our session at the moment in order for it to have more impact on them. Basically, we can learn this from experience but we can improve this by knowing our clients thoroughly beforehand and being sensitive about the things they say and do.

Personally, I need to improve my communication skills because I sometimes stutter and say a lot of things to the point that they cannot understand the things I am saying. I think that I can improve this through more practice, more preparation and more mastery of the topic.

This is just our first time and I know we have a potential to be better, to be good teachers.
