We had our instructional design workshop last
March 23, Monday. Our activity was to come up with an instructional design for
our assigned fieldwork. The instructional design includes the objectives –our
goals for the session; content –the activity that we will do and will teach to
our clients; strategies –our game plans to achieve our goals; resources –the
things that we would need to conduct the activity; and evaluation –any activity
that we could do that would help us assess if the objectives that we set are
accomplished or not.
The first part, which was creating objectives,
was already hard. We had to analyze our clients and their characteristics in
order for us to come up with objectives. Additionally, these objectives should
be realistic. The objectives should be well thought of because the rest of the
instructional design would depend on these. After making the objectives, the next
steps were easier to do since we had our set goals to guide us. We already knew
what we want to achieve, thus we had an idea of what we will put under content,
strategy, resources, and evaluation.
Constructing an instructional design is not an
easy thing to do. A person should thoroughly think about every detail that
he/she would put in there. He/she should meticulously plan every step in order for
the whole teaching and learning activity to be effective.
As future physical therapists, an instructional design would be useful to us when we handle our own clients. This would serve as our guide on how we would conduct our session.
