Being a teacher is not an easy task, that is what our activity taught me.
At first, i thought that it will just be a workshop (as written on our syllabus), where we will just listen to the teacher and then apply what we learn in an activity perhaps, but I have never been so wrong. It was a whole day activity, I have not prepared the night before for I thought that we need not to prepare, but it was the complete opposite.
We are instructed to do an instructional design, where we need to put what we will do on the task given to us, which is teaching kids in San Mateo, Rizal regarding proper hygiene. Basically we are going to teach the kids on proper hand washing, what made it difficult is to find the appropriate objectives attainable by the kids. Half day was spend on the objectives only, that proves that objectives are very important, for we need to put a lot of thinking to it. We need to do it first on our own, which is very hard, for I do not know what and how to start, but we are guided through the right path by the instructors assigned to us who made the task easier.
There are two things that this activity taught me. First, I need to be prepared all the time. As a PT, we do not know who will enter the doors in our clinic one day and what condition they may have. We should be prepared for everything that life has to offer. Lastly, we should personalize everything for our clients. We should accommodate every aspect a client has. May it be their attitude towards things, mental capabilities and many more.
