Let Us Call It a Day

The Instructional Design Workshop was an activity that is vital to our practice as future physical therapists yet a very exhausting activity, as well. Exhausting in such a way that we submitted only a piece of paper but it took us almost the whole day to make it. I was then thinking about the struggles our professors face every time they prepare for a lecture. (But maybe for them it just comes naturally. And kudos to the professors for that!)

It all started with writing objectives for our teaching activity. It was hard because we were then starting to gauge the level of learning we want our clients to attain. But when I approached our supervisor, I was a bit enlightened. She taught me the importance of knowing our clients and teaching things that will really be of benefit for them especially in relation to their work. I thought that it was the end of the struggle. But, no. It was just the beginning. Writing about the content, strategy, resources, and evaluation was not easier at all. I kept on looking at the module just to guide me in writing those things. Then I approached another professor to check my work. I was glad because she just mentioned little revisions for my work. And all I can say about the activity for that day is that it helped me prepare for something that I am not really used to do.

Lastly, maybe that day of planning is something that is like being in the shoes of our professors but not exactly. Just in some sort of way. It was really hard but I think it is just part of it. The process of preparing for the activity may be draining for all of us but I know that the day of teaching itself and to be able to see your clients waiting for your prepared activity will be all worth it.
