What I realized from instructional design workshop activity was, ultimately, being a teacher was indeed hard. Many of our past activities have shown us a similar view but this was different. Imagine making an instructional design for every time you teach a certain topic. I think my neurons would have been half gone after a week. Kidding aside, this activity showed one of the technicalities of teaching and yet I find that the same values or attitudes of being a teacher were reflected through it.
Coming up with the objectives and their consequent contents, strategies, resources and evaluation methods can be frustrating and thus requires a lot of patience. In my experience, it really took me a long time coming up with everything since I had to consider several factors regarding the client. This is also true in our practice since we always emphasize individualizing our treatment for all our clients. However, it is also not always easy to do, which is why we have what we call "combo meals". As future physical therapists, it is important that we develop our patience as this will greatly influence our conduct with our patients. We should also always remember that we are treating different people, therefore we should be careful to consider all the things that would help us plan their intervention.
Another thing I learned was how important it was to consult with peers especially with those who are more experienced than us. This is probably the one that helped me the most while completing the activity. I believe some of us are not comfortable asking advice from others especially when they hold some form of authority over you. However, I think this is important during practice as well since being a licensed PT would not always mean that you have the answers to everything or that you're always right. I also think that one way we can grow into the profession is by seeking help from others and being open to change.
